Congratulations to all Drive Fitness teams that completed the Kokoda Challenge Brisbane yesterday, 29 May 2011. All teams needed to be registered by 6:45 am which meant a 4:30 am alarm for most of us. This is not easy on a Sunday morning.
It was tough! All teams completed the 30km event in under the 9 hour time limit - some with plenty of time to spare. The track had some of the steepest climbs I have ever walked up and the mental challenge of continuing on with hill after hill in front of us took a lot of grit and determination. I had never been so relieved to see a finish line and I would definitely rank this highly among the hardest physical challenges I have ever been involved in. The photos don't do the ruggedness of the terrain justice.
The feeling of accomplishing something significant is slowly starting to outweigh the soreness that I have been feeling all over since the 20km mark. From all feedback I have received everyone really enjoyed it despite the challenge. It was a great event to be apart of and a great opportunity to train and achieve a goal together. I am looking forward to participating in next years event already - hopefully a bit more physically prepared.
If you would like to take the challenge next year we would really like to have you join one of our Drive Fitness teams. We will keep everyone up to date with the event info leading up to Kokoda Challenge Brisbane 2012.
Team results below:
Drive Fitness 1: 6 hours 21 minutes
Drive Fitness 2: 5 hours 19 minutes
Drive Fitness 3: 6 hours 26 minutes
Shortungs (Drive Fitness): 7 hours 10 minutes
