12 Days of Christmas Workout is Back & Bigger than Ever!


This year's 12 Days of Christmas Workout looks like the most challenging ever!

Every year the Drive Fitness personal training team put together a workout intended to be nearly impossible. It's a 12 exercise challenge (in theme with the 12 Days of Christmas) with a 25 minute cut off - your goal is to get as far through as possible before time expires!

Take the challenge at your next personal training session! Only available at Drive Fitness from 1 - 22 of December 2012!

Saturday Boot Camp Coming to Holland Park: Starting January 2013


You asked for it! You've got it...

Following the popularity of the Saturday morning boot camps during the 8 week weight loss challenge earlier this year we had a lot of people request an ongoing Saturday morning boot camp session.
We are excited to announce the permanent addition of a Saturday morning boot camp session starting Saturday 26 January 2013, details below.

Where will sessions take place?
Glindemann Park, Logan Rd, Holland Park (our Holland Park boot camp location).

When will sessions take place? 
Every Saturday morning 6:30-7:30am starting Saturday 26 January 2013.

Who can participate?
Everyone! Any age, fitness level or exercise experience.

How much do sessions cost?
Saturday morning boot camp sessions will operate as part of our normal boot camp program at $19 per session in a 12 session pack.

How do session packs work?
If you have an active boot camp session pack you can attend any boot camp session at any of our 3 boot camp locations in Camp Hill (5:30am Monday & Wednesday), Moorooka (5:30am Tuesday & Thursdsay) and Holland Park (5:30am Tuesday, Thursday & 6:30am Saturday *NEW*)

Why are Drive Fitness boot camps more awesome than others?
Good question! For quite a few reasons... The main reason is that we keep our boot camp numbers capped lower then other boot camps. This allows us to use exercises and training methods that simply don't work with really big groups (some boot camps overload to 30 people or more). Our boot camps are also more flexible then others, if you don't turn up to a boot camp session you don't lose it. Your 12 sessions are available until you have been to 12 sessions. .

Drive Fitness Personal Trainer Trekking through the Himalayan Mountains to Mount Everest

At almost midnight on Sunday November 4th 2012, Nathan Dietrich, one of our Drive Fitness personal trainers and a Seven Hills studio crew head off bound to trek through the Himalayan Mountains to Mount Everest.

Ivor “Yeti 1” Worrell (a seven time trekker of the Himalayan mountains), Scott ‘The Ogre” Egerton (a Mount Kilimanjaro summiter), Simon “Yeti 2” Smyth (two time Everest trekker) and personal trainer Nathan “The Mule” Dietrich (total novice), will fly into to Kathmandu for 2 days.

From there they will board a plane for the small village of Lukla (and even smaller landing strip!!). They will then spend 19 days taking a different route to Mount Everest base camp trekking and carrying packs weighing approximately 17 to 20 kilograms. The route encompasses places such as Namche Bazar, Machhermo, Dragnag, and also includes summits of Gokyo Ri, crossing the Cho La pass, and then another summit of  Kala Patthar before heading back down to Everest Base Camp.

With altitudes ranging from 2800 metres (approximately 9000 feet) to 5550 metres (approximately 18500 feet), oxygen intake of only around 50% at that altitude, and temperature of  minus 7 with a wind chill factor of minus 20, this is sure to be a physically demanding adventure.

Boot Camp Challenge Results: 10 November 2012


Wet conditions and an early Saturday morning start didn't deter our boot camp challenge participants on Saturday 10 November. The reigning defending boot camp challenge champions Holland Park were looking to extend their winning streak to 3 while Moorooka and Camp Hill both were hungry to claim the prestigious title of boot camp challenge champions.

The boot camp challenge has 3 scoring events:

Event 1 - 12min 4exercise x 5rep Circuit Relay: Weight Plate Over Head Press, Sand Bag Dead Lift,  Kettlebell Sumo Dead Lift High Pull, Sit Up. 1 point awarded for each round completed within the 12 minute time period. 

Camp Hill: 36, Moorooka: 50, Holland Park: 48

Event 2 - Medicine Ball Throw for Distance: Over Head Throw, Chest Pass, Backwards Over Head Throw. 3 points awarded for the longest throw, 2 for second longest and 1 for third longest. 

Camp Hill: 96, Moorooka: 95, Holland Park: 96

Event 3 - Prowler Push Relay. 1 point awarded for each complete shuttle prowler push where the allowed time was determined by how long it took the other boot camps to complete 20 burpess per person. 

Camp Hill: 9, Moorooka: 13, Holland Park: 8

Congratulations to the winning boot camp and NEW Boot Camp Challenge Champions MOOROOKA with a total score of 158, closely followed by Holland Park in 2nd place on 152 and Camp Hill in 3rd with 141. 

An honourable mention goes to Ross Woods for his horizontal dive finish in the dieing seconds of the prowler push relay. Unfortunately it didn't score a point but it was an impressive show of commitment none the less.

Who will walk away this Saturday 10 November the boot camp challenge champions? 

Represent your boot camp in the last boot camp challenge for 2012 this Saturday!

What is it?
A fun, friendly competition where your 'favourite' boot camp exercises are combined into fun team challenges.

Who can participate?
All Drive Fitness boot campers from Holland Park, Moorooka & Camp Hill. Join in and represent your boot camp team!

When is it?
Saturday 10 November. Starting at 6:30am and wrapping up by 7:30am including morning tea and presentation.

Weight Loss Challenge Winners Announced


Congratulations to all Weight Loss Challenge participants! We had a total of 263.7kg lost during the 8 weeks!

Congratulations to everyone who achieved their weight loss goal and to those of you who got your weight loss journey started. All the best with your continued efforts to either lose more weight or maintain your new body weight.

The renewed motivation in the studios and at boot camp during the weight loss challenge was exciting and inspiring. Thank you for supporting each and enjoying in each other's success. We hope everyone has finished the weight loss challenge having either learnt something new about exercise and nutrition or with greater motivation!

A BIG congratulations to our top 3 8 week weight loss challenge winners! As impossible as it may sound we had a tie for first place and very close runner up.

  • 1st Place: Stefanie Brandon - 11.4kg & 15.3% of body weight lost.
  • 1st Place: David Shortt - 16.7kg & 15.3% of body weight lost
  • 2nd Place: Ross Woods - 15.9kg & 14.6% of body weight lost

Weight Loss Challenge - Winners to be Announced Tomorrow Night!

Tomorrow night (Friday 2 November) at The Drive Fitness Christmas Party the winners of the Weight Loss Challenge 2012 will be announced. Find out how much weight was dropped in total by all participants combined and who has managed to lose the greatest % of their body weight to win!

We have seen some fantastic results over the last 8 weeks, many weight loss goals achieved and exceeded and a revival in motivation in the studios. We look forward to presenting the prizes to our winners and recognising others who have given the challenge their very best effort!
