Drive Fitness Team Twilight Run Results

Congratulations to the Drive Fitness Team for completing the Brisbane Twilight Run on Sunday 24 March. Our 10km team came 10th & our  5km team can 17th out of 26 teams - well done! A special congratulations to those of you who achieved your goal, whether it be just finishing. beating last year's time or setting a new personal best.

It was the most crazy fun run I have ever participated in, I think everyone who was there would say the same. Despite the wild weather all Drive Fitness team members made it safely to the finish line but I think it's fair to say that conditions were not ideal for setting personal records.

Running in heavy rain & strong winds with water up to ankles in some parts whilst dodging falling branches resembled more of a 'Tough Mudder' event than a fun run - for those of you in our Tough Mudder team, consider it preparation for August!

What Vegetables Are Starchy?

When we think about eating for weight control we rarely consider vegetables as a potential pitfall. The public health message about vegetables in my opinion is far to vague. If you simply follow the general recommendation of 'going for 5' everyday with no other considerations you may end up with far more carbohydrate on your plate then you need. Starch is a carbohydrate, and as the name suggests, starchy vegetables have a lot of it.  Let's take a closer look at which vegetables are starchy, how much carbohydrate they contain and how much we really should be having.

Twilight Run This Sunday 24 March!



We have 26 Twilight Runners in our team - it's not too late to join us!

We will be meeting on the oval at 4pm (1 hour before the 10km event start) to cheer on the start for Drive Fitness team members doing the 5km event and to meet before the 10km event. Keep a look out for other Drive Fitness team members - there will be a lot of people so finding everyone will e difficult.

  • The race starts and finishes at UQ St Lucia Campus
  • Transport by car & parking at the event is very easy compared to most other fun runs

The Drive Fitness Tough Mudder Team now has 24 members!
Join our Tough Mudder team before it's too late. If you don't register soon you risk missing out completely and the registration price incrementally increases as we get closer to the event. The price jumps again on 4 April so get in before then!

As we get closer to the event we will be introducing Tough Mudder Team ONLY boot camp sessions to help everyone prepare. Between now and then our regular boot camps and personal training sessions continue to provide a great training platform for Tough Mudder preparation.

Drive Fitness Trail Walk Sunday 28 April



The first Drive fitness trail walk for 2013 will take place on 28 April at Springbrook National Park, approximately 90 minutes from Brisbane.

We will be trekking the Warrie Circuit which encompasses approximately 17km of bushland. Track details advise to allow around 5-6 hours to complete it. The route is quite scenic and involves passing by 7 waterfalls and some good undulating, however not terribly difficult terrain.

It's a moderately challenging track but is suitable for all levels of fitness so feel free to invite your family members and friends along with you.

What time does it start?
We will be meeting 9:30am sharp!

Where do we meet?
Springbrook National Park, Tallanbana Picnic Area.

What will we be doing?
Trecking 17km through scenic terrain taking approximately 5-6 hours. 

What should I bring?
Any food that you wish to eat, plenty of water, sunscreen & mobile phone.

Who can come along?
Anyone that trains at Drive Fitness and their family & friends.

Boot Camp Challenge Date Changed to 20 April



Boot Camp teams - you now have an extra week to prepare, make the most of it! 

The first Boot Camp Challenge of 2013 will NOW be taking place on Saturday 20 April.

Moorooka boot camp will be putting there title of Boot Camp Challenge Champions on the line against the former champions Holland Park and Camp Hill who are hungry for their first win!

More details to be announced as we get closer to the date - keep training hard in preparation!

Bench Press Challenge 2013: Date Announcement

The Bench Press Challenge is back for it's 6th year! Put it in your calendar for Saturday 25 May.


Never been to our Bench Press Challenge before and don't know what to expect? 

Expect lot's of people just like you (not competitive powerlifters) supporting each other as we all attempt to achieve our personal best lift! It gives us something to aim for and an opportunity to come together.

Drive Fitness hoodies are now available to order. We do not keep extra stock or place additional orders so don't miss out - please order by emailing David at dave@drivefitness.net and specifying your size & colour.

Orders need to be placed by April 10, giving us enough time to make sure everyone receives their hoodie in time for Winter! 

Hoodies are only $42.00. They are comfortable for training (while warming up) or for day to day wear. We had over 40 hoodies go out last year and all feedback has been excellent.

Team Indoor Rowing Challenge Results 2013

On Saturday 2 March 2013 Drive Fitness Tarragindi hosted the first ever Drive Fitness Team Indoor Rowing Challenge! 100 rowers in teams of of 4 (12 men's and 13 women's teams) competed in a 2000m relay.

Congratulations to all rowers! It was great to see everyone giving it 100%. The amazing atmosphere and team support helped all competitors perform at their very best. Once again, thank you to everyone for contributing to our fitness community just by being there.

In the trainers race we had a 3 on 3 competition. Tim, Brad & David bettered Jared, Nathan & Owey by 6 seconds in what could of been a lot closer had Owey not fallen off the seat in the last 250m! We had lots of fun and we hope you did too.
