Weight loss myths: exercising on an empty stomach burns more fat


Eat or don't eat before training - what is more effective for maximising fat burning during exercise, or does it even matter? We've all heard it before, "exercise burns more fat if you do it on an empty stomach". Is there any truth to this or is it just another weight loss myth?

Congratulations to those who completed the Brissie to the Bay Ride


Congratulations to everyone from Drive Fitness who participated in the 50km & 100km Brissie to the Bay Ride on Sunday the 24th June.

Less than 10 weeks to the Bridge to Brisbane


If you haven't started training for the 2012 Bridge to Brisbane it's time to start NOW! We are just under 10 weeks away from the event, taking place on Sunday 2 September. Drive Fitness has a FREE running group that meets every Saturday 7am at the Tarragindi studio. Everyone of all fitness levels welcome!


Last year Drive Fitness had a team of over 50 participants and we saw some great times and personal bests. Click here for 2011 results


We provide a private bus to and from the event and Drive Fitness team BBQ back at the studio following.

The Brisbane Stampede: 8 September 2012



Brisbane, are you ready? The Stampede is more than just a race, The Stampede is an epic challenge that will push you to your limits.
Run wild through a gruelling 5km or 10km obstacle course. You’ll crawl through thick mud, climb up cargo nets, slide down the giant slip & slide, run through live wires charged with 10,000 volts and wash it all down with a beer on one crazy day.
The Stampede is charging into Woodford, 1 hour north of Brisbane on 8 September 2012. Register now and join the Stampede.

It's Coming to Brisbane in August 2013... Tough Mudder

Drive Fitness Trail Walk: Sunday 26 August

After the great feedback following the Kokoda Challenge earlier this month we are introducing trail walks as a regular addition to our event calendar. Walks will be lead by Nathan approximately every 3-4 months. Tracks will vary in distance.

The details of our first trail walk are as follows:

When: Sunday 26 August
Time: 8am sharp
Where: Lamington National Park
What: Binna Burra Lodge to Coomera Falls 14-15km, allow roughly 4-5 hours. We will hold a short track briefing before hand.

  2. navigate to the right hand side and click 'Enter Now' which is under the countdown
  3. If you have entered the event before, use your previous login details and click 'Login', or, if this is your first time click 'Join Now' and follow the prompts
  4. After you are logged in click 'Competitor Registration'
  5. Select 'Join an Existing Team' and enter our team number '32218' then click 'Next'
  6. Click 'Continue Registration' on the breakfast menu page. Please note the breakfast options listed DO NOT refer to the private Drive Fitness BBQ breakfast back at the Mt Gravatt following the event - this is included within the cost of your Drive Fitness bus ticket for $5. More details below. 
  7. Update and add your details:
    • race start zone: please choose the most appropriate zone for your fitness level
    • Drive Fitness will pick up all race packs . Please select 'I will collect my race kit from the race office' so we can do this for you. We will provide it to you before the event/
    • If you would like to travel on the private Drive Fitness bus select 'own arrangements' for your transport to and from the event. We are providing a private bus for our team only, it will depart from the Mt Gravatt studio at 5:10am and drop our team at the start line. It will return following the event for a private team BBQ breakfast. Seats are limited on our private bus so please register asap.The bus and breakfast costs $5 to be paid at your Drive Fitness studio upon registration. Please check with your trainer that bus seats are still available.

Dumbbell training: intermediate workout


This intermediate workout introduces a change in session format and 5 new dumbbell exercises. It's great for strength, general fitness and weight loss / weight control and provides a tough challenge no matter how fit or strong you are. Kokoda Challenge Brisbane Results


Congratulations to everyone from Drive Fitness who completed the 30km Kokoda Challenge Brisbane on the 3 June. It's a great accomplishment and you should be very proud of your fitness and mental toughness.The wet conditions made the already tough event even tougher.



All participants who started made it to the finish and from all reports everyone enjoyed the challenge but no one is committing to doing it again - at least not at this stage! The track involved 30km of slippery inclines, thigh high creek crossings and unrelenting hills that went for kilometres. We will get photos up on our facebook page over the next few days.

Run Club Update



We had a small group on Saturday 2 June due to the wet weather and people resting for the Kokoda Challenge the following. Great work to those who got out there and ran despite the rain and well done to Stef and Howard who both achieved personal best times on the Toohey Forest Loop (7.8km hilly track).
