Boot Camp Challenge April 2013 Results

Drive Fitness Boot Camp teams went head to head on Saturday morning to determine the boot camp challenge champions. Team events using a combination of everyone's 'favourite' boot camp exercises were scored. It was a great morning! Event details and results below.

Event 1: Prowler Push Relay
1 point awarded for each shuttle prowler push completed where the time allowed was determined by the time it took for each team member of the opposing teams to finish 25 burpees. This event was a 'popular' one last boot camp challenge so we took it a step further by increasing the burpees by 5 (from 20 to 25) and by introducing the harder, lower prowler handle.

Camp Hill: 13, Holland Park: 13, Moorooka: 10

Event 2: Kettlebell Rob The Nest
1 point awarded for every kg of kettlebell weight in a team's home base when the time expired. Over 20 kettlebells first of all had to be transported from the middle to team bases, after all kettlebells had been taken from the middle teams could then steal from each other's home base. The issues of 'teaming up' & scoring has been raised following this event and we will be bringing this one back as the first event next boot camp challenge with revised rules & scoring to settle it once and for all!

Camp Hill: 396, Holland Park: 324, Moorooka: 430

Event 3: 4 Exercise Team Circuit
1 point awarded for each round of the circuit completed where team members could not move on to the next exercise until the team member in front had moved on. Each round included 10 reps of kettlebell high pulls, push ups, medicine ball slams and sit ups followed by a drop to the ground and sprint to finish. This style of circuit has become  expected at boot camp challenges.

Camp Hill: 33, Holland Park: 34, Moorooka: 32

Final scores, in 1st place Moorooka on 472, followed by Camp Hill in 2nd place on 442 and Holland Park in 3rd place on 371.
Congratulations to the defending boot camp challenge champions Moorooka on their fist successful title defence.

Boot Camp Challenge Results: 10 November 2012

Wet conditions and an early Saturday morning start didn't deter our boot camp challenge participants on Saturday 10 November. The reigning defending boot camp challenge champions Holland Park were looking to extend their winning streak to 3 while Moorooka and Camp Hill both were hungry to claim the prestigious title of boot camp challenge champions.

The boot camp challenge has 3 scoring events:

Event 1 - 12min 4exercise x 5rep Circuit Relay: Weight Plate Over Head Press, Sand Bag Dead Lift,  Kettlebell Sumo Dead Lift High Pull, Sit Up. 1 point awarded for each round completed within the 12 minute time period.

Camp Hill: 36, Moorooka: 50, Holland Park: 48

Event 2 - Medicine Ball Throw for Distance: Over Head Throw, Chest Pass, Backwards Over Head Throw. 3 points awarded for the longest throw, 2 for second longest and 1 for third longest.

Camp Hill: 96, Moorooka: 95, Holland Park: 96

Event 3 - Prowler Push Relay. 1 point awarded for each complete shuttle prowler push where the allowed time was determined by how long it took the other boot camps to complete 20 burpess per person.

Camp Hill: 9, Moorooka: 13, Holland Park: 8

Congratulations to the winning boot camp and NEW Boot Camp Challenge Champions MOOROOKA with a total score of 158, closely followed by Holland Park in 2nd place on 152 and Camp Hill in 3rd with 141.

An honourable mention goes to Ross Woods for his horizontal dive finish in the dieing seconds of the prowler push relay. Unfortunately it didn't score a point but it was an impressive show of commitment none the less.

Boot Camp Challenge Results: 3 March 2012

Camp Hill, Holland Park and Moorooka boot camp groups went at it again on the 3 March 2012! Defending champions Holland Park were looking to extend their winning streak to 2 while former champions Moorooka were eager to reclaim the title they won this time last year and had lost only months earlier. Camp Hill showed up with their biggest team to date which made it clear that they could not be overlooked.

There were three scoring events:
  1. Rob the nest using medicine balls, weight plates, sandbags and kettlebells. Points were calculated by taking the total weight in the nest at the end of the round divided by the number of team members.
  2. Dead lift, push up, kettlebell high pull & medicine ball slam relay. 1 point was awarded for each time a team member reached the end of the relay in the given time period.
  3. Sandbag shuttle runs requiring the rest of the team to be powering the shuttle run with weight plate ground to overheads and sit ups. 1 point was awarded for each time the sandbag was transported to the end of a shuttle in the given time period.
Well done to all boot campers who participated in the boot camp challenge, everyone put it in 100%. The great effort put in by everyone was reflected on the very close score board.

Finals scores had Seven Hills in 3rd place on 109, Moorooka in 2nd place on 121 and Holland Park in 1st place on 133 points making Holland Park, for the second time in a row, the boot camp challenge champions.

The honourable mention for this boot camp challenge goes to Stef for a huge show of commitment in the dying seconds of the last event. Stef scored one final point on the buzzer with an impressive slip at top speed while carrying the sandbag. This was a fantastic finish to a great morning.

Boot Camp Challenge 2011 Results

On Thursday 24 November the 3 Drive Fitness boot camps faced off in a variety of fitness challenges to determine the boot camp champions. The fitness challenges included exercises that have been used in boot camp sessions throughout the year including push ups, burpees, kettlebell exercises, medicine ball exercises, boxing, running, skipping, jumping and core work. The Camp Hill boot camp was not well represented on the day (Thursday is not a typical boot camp morning for this group - excuses, excuses) but Moorooka and Holland Park both had strong teams present ready to put it all on the line for the title of boot camp champion!

Rumour was that the carry over boot camp champions Moorooka were the favourites going in to the event, however it was all Holland Park on the day with a score of 230, beating Moorooka's 185. Holland Park did have a participant number advantage however this can't be taken away from the winners and new boot camp champions. Congratulations to the Holland Park team! Holland Park will have to defend their title in February / March next year. The Moorooka team will be keen to recapture the gold and Camp Hill boot camp trainer Kate will no doubt be eager to assemble the Camp Hill troops and put together a strong showing.

Honourable mentions go to Janine for being the single Seven Hills representative in the challenge and Gary from Holland Park for achieving a 4min bridge (ab brace) in the final core strength event of the morning. Well done to all boot campers for another year of early mornings and hard work. We will have more photos of the boot camp challenge up on our facebook page soon, check them out here: www.facebook.com/drivefitness.

Boot Camp Challenge - THIS WEEK

The Boot Camp Challenge will be taking place this Thursday 24 November, 5:30am-6:30am at Glindemann Park, Logan Rd. We hope to see as many boot campers there as possible representing their team. The fitness events will be fun team challenges and everyone is guaranteed to get a great workout.

The rumour circulating around the studios is that Tim has a strong Moorooka team with a lot of new recruits ready to retain the Boot Camp Challenge Title, however Jared is confident that his more experienced boot camp team have what it takes to force the championship to change hands. There is also rumour that due to the Thursday not being a typical boot camp morning for Camp Hill, Camp Hill team numbers may be a bit low. As much as Kate would love to see the title in the hands of her Camp Hill side it looks like she may have to wait till next year! Camp Hill boot campers are still encouraged to join in, if there are not enough Camp Hill team members to form their own team, they will get a great workout and be able to join the Moorooka and Holland Park sides.

If you haven't let your boot camp trainer know that you will be there please let them know at your first boot camp session this week. If you would like to join a boot camp or would like more information about Drive Fitness boot camps please feel welcome to give Dave a call on 0402 358 127 or email at dave@drivefitness.net.
